Draped in glowing orange and marigold shades, the KAI 3 “Calcite” uses a strikingly beautiful palette to showcase resilience and growth, both on and off the court. The design is inspired by calcite, also known as “sunstone,” which channels the mineral’s symbolism of precision, clarity, and focus.
According to research, the Vikings used the sunstone as a compass to travel across the North Atlantic almost 1000 years ago. When the sky was cloudy, they would use calcite crystals to depolarize the light and find the rings around the hidden sun, allowing them to find their bearings once more.
This navigational precision and culture are represented in the details of the Calcite design. On the heel, a sundial motif represents the ancient sun compass that the design embodies, symbolizing purpose and Kyrie’s own philosophy of alignment between mindset and movement.
